AlNiCo is the first permanent magnet to be developed, it is an alloy composed of aluminum, nickel, cobalt, iron, and other trace metal elements. AlNiCo magnets were developed in the 1930s. Because it has the best magnetic field energy and the smallest temperature coefficient, it is widely used in the magnetoelectric machine. After the 1960s, with the appearance of ferrite magnets and rare-earth magnets, AlNiCo magnets gradually replaced them and were used in an electric machine, and their proportion gradually decreased.
According to different production processes, AlNiCo magnets can be divided into sintered AlNiCo and cast AlNiCo. The shape of the product is mostly round or square. Casting processing can produce different sizes and shapes; compared with casting processing, sintered products are limited to smaller sizes, the blank size tolerance produced by it is larger than those of casting, and the magnetic energy is slightly lower than the casting, but the workability is better. AlNiCo magnets have the lowest reversible temperature coefficient among permanent magnets, and the working temperature can reach above 600℃. As industrial magnets, AlNiCo magnet products are widely used in various instruments and other fields.
AlNiCo magnets have high residual magnetism (up to 1.35T) and a low-temperature coefficient. When the temperature coefficient is -0.02%/℃, the maximum operating temperature is about 520℃. The disadvantage is that the coercivity is very low (generally less than 160kA/m), and the demagnetization curve is nonlinear. Therefore, although AlNiCo magnets are easy to magnetize, they are also easy to demagnetize.
Many industrial and consumer products require the use of strong magnetic permanent magnet materials, such as motors, electric guitar pickups, microphones, sensors, speakers, traveling wave tubes, cow magnets, etc. Many AlNiCo magnets for sale are also used. But at present, many products have switched to rare-earth magnets, because this material can provide a stronger magnetic field with a higher BHmax, thereby reducing the volume of the product.
The above is an introduction to the characteristics of AlNiCo magnets and the main application industries of AlNiCo magnets. The high operating temperature limit makes AlNiCo magnets particularly suitable for sensitive automotive and aircraft sensor applications. AlNiCo has many grades to meet the requirements of these applications, from AlNiCo 1 to AlNiCo 12, but the most popular grades are 2, 5, and 8. Compared with newer materials, AlNiCo has a lower coercivity.
